July 30, 1947. Mr. C.A. Fowler attended a City Council meeting to request a solution to the problem of truck traffic on Main Street. He suggested a new route to divert the trucks that frequently traveled through town, hauling produce to Commission houses and the Sugar Factory. After some discussion, the Council informed Mr. Fowler they would certainly take the matter under advisement.
Over the years, many more comments and studies have been completed to investigate a project of this magnitude. Finally, 60 years later, 2007, the City of Delta has taken this request to the next level and is pursing the final design of the Alternate Truck Route project.
Throughout this website, you will find a wealth of information and history. As we receive public comments, we will post those on the public comments page. We are also compiling frequently asked questions about the project. Check back often to track this valuable information.
Finally, we need your help. We will be holding public meetings as we work through the final design. Please visit the public meetings page often to see updates to the meeting schedule. We look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks for being a part of "Routing Delta's Future"!
